Nicolson Square Edinburgh, part of Central Hall Venues group, this week announces the launch of a unique team building experience designed to take event delegates literally to the heart of the historic city in an escape room challenge.
NSE has partnered with Escape The Past to bring event professionals an immersive team building experience like no other called The Anatomist. Set in the 19th Century, it combines both history and medicine, focusing on a murky period of Edinburgh’s past. While it was renowned for being the world’s leading centre for medical teaching, this was facilitated almost entirely by illegal grave robbery. The Anatomist aims to bring this period to life and inspire event attendees to learn more about Edinburgh’s past.
Situated in the basement of NSE, Escape The Past opened its business in 2020 in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. Despite the challenges of launching a business at this time, it fast became the #4 “Fun” Edinburgh activity on Trip Advisor and received with 5* reviews across Trip Advisor, Google and Facebook. It was also recently recognised as one of the UK’s best escape rooms by enthusiast website, Escape The Review.
However, it is only now that NSE has partnered with Escape the Past to bring the experience to event delegates. NSE’s building is perfectly suited to the topic as it existed during the period on which the activity is set and is situated on the edge of Edinburgh’s old surgical district – directly opposite Surgeons Hall.
While activity’s story itself is a work of historical fiction, it was important to Escape The Past’s founders, Chris Wood, an Edinburgh University History Graduate and Zahra Chaudhri, a Medical Doctor, to find a location that felt authentic in order to create an immersive historical experience.
Chris Wood, Co-Founder of Escape The Past, comments: “We’re delighted to offer NSE delegates this uniquely immersive team building experience. After the last couple of years of Zoom fatigue, Escape Rooms offer the perfect antidote and since ‘The Anatomist’ is so closely tied to Edinburgh’s history, it’s a great choice for anyone planning a team day in the city.”
“Like all good escape rooms, The Anatomist draws on a wide range of skills and problem-solving abilities and requires constant teamwork. They are also great fun and allow you to discover a lot about how you work together as a team,” he adds.
The escape room game lasts for approximately one hour and with its fun but fascinating challenges is perfect for teams of between six and eight people after an event at NSE. If the session is booked alongside an event at NSE, then the cost is £16.50 per person with everything organised for the teams.
