An opportunity has arisen to join our Events Team as a Porter at one of our prestigious sites within our historical venues portfolio.

Location: Central Hall Westminster, Storey’s Gate, SW1H 9NH. This is an office-based role.

Salary: £13.85 per hour

We are Central Hall Venues, a network of heritage venues that manage events for concerts, meetings, conferences, and workshops. Central Hall Westminster is our flagship venue and has played host in the past to a number of corporate, charity and private events including the BBC New Years eve concerts, James Cordon’s the Late Late show, the Burberry Fashion Show and many other high-profile events to name but a few.

Central Hall Westminster (CHW) Ltd is owned by Trustees appointed by the Methodist Church; as such we aim to conduct business in line with the ethics of the Methodist Church and our Central Hall Venues (CHV) values. CHV is the brand name for the portfolio of venues run by CHW Ltd.

In this role you will offer logistical support for events held at Central Hall Westminster, ensuring that all events and meetings are set-up to client and company specification. With strong client service imperatives, the role assists in the delivery of operational excellence in staging for all internal, commercial, and Church events and meetings.

A successful Porter will:  

  • Have excellent customer service skills

  • Have good verbal communication skills
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Be flexible around working days and hours, including weekends and occasional nights
  • Have evidence of working to deadlines
  • Be adaptable to change

 

This position involves physical activity including heavy lifting and moving large items such as moving furniture, breaking down large operational items including stage extensions, the ramp, changing the front-of-building flag, operating the mechanical stage, and operating dividing walls. It also involves long periods of standing and walking long distances over the course of the day.

 

In addition, the position requires work during unsociable hours (weekend and early morning/late night working)
