Welcome to St Saviourgate York

St Saviourgate York is a conference and events venue situated within the ancient walls of York and surrounded by 2000 years of history.  The venue is the Central Methodist Church which dates back to 1840 and is today a Grade II* listed building. Designed by architect James Simpson who was tasked to create a building that would provide as a meeting and community space for up to 1500 people and to mark the centenary of Methodism.

St Saviourgate York (SSY) is a new name and brand that forms a part of the Central Hall Venues group who successfully support and manage events venues in other parts of the country.  St Saviourgate has five flexible event spaces capable of holding events for up to 400 people.

Positioned next to the Shambles and in view of York Minster, the building has an iconic colonnaded portico frontage that leads into a two storey Great Hall.  The Great Hall has a decorated high ceiling, stained glass windows and an impressive organ. A series of buildings connected to the Great Hall via a corridor lead to a sunny and green courtyard in the centre of the venue.

The Fulford and Rawcliffe rooms combined make up the primary events spaces, these rooms can be separated by moving wall.  This original wall feature is a wonderful example of Victorian engineering providing a flexible use of meeting space.  Our smaller room Clifton makes for an ideal break out space.
