Our in-house production service partner White Light (WL) recently celebrated their 50th anniversary towards the end of 2021.  To mark the milestone occasion, WL Director Richard Wilson sat down in conversation with our Managing Director Paul Southern, to reflect on over two decades of working together professionally. Here we take a closer look at a few of the themes they discussed…

Although WL’s tenancy at Central Hall commenced in 2015, Paul recalls working with us for the very first time back in 2000, while employed by an events management company. Around this time, we were looking to branch our theatrical roots out further to new sectors, of which corporate events was a priority. Delivering themed Christmas party nights enabled us to bring our expertise in creating theatrical live experiences through enhanced lighting effects and décor, into this growing market. In more recent years, we have used these techniques to transform the Great Hall for festive events such as the spectacular Unicef Christmas Concert in 2018, to raise vital funds and awareness for Syrian children affected by war.

With the sheer multitude of different spaces available to hire at Central Hall, we see an enormous variety in the types of events we can deliver. Although the venue is most well-known for large-scale televised shows including the BBC’s New Year’s Eve concerts and James Corden’s #LateLateLondon, their bread and butter tends to be daytime conferences. Often these are particularly significant as their objective is to increase awareness, or fundraise for a hugely important cause, such as CARE International’s March4Women event.

One of the 3 key words Paul chose to describe WL was innovation, which was at the core of the first event we delivered as the in-house production partner – Meet the Future. Our commitment to innovating with technology has seen us invest in cutting-edge equipment throughout Central Hall during our managed venue partnership.
